Artist biography:

Nancy Engdahl, a retired middle school English teacher, originally from Massachusetts, has summered in Waterford since 1965 and has lived there year round since 2000. Her favorite activity with her students was guiding them to paint pictures and ideas with colorful word descriptions, using words as they would a brush.

She developed an interest in drawing and painting at a very young age, taking lessons in oils, pastels and watercolors. In her paintings, Nancy tries to capture the beauty that surrounds us in Maine, from the western foothills to the coast and islands.

Her work currently hangs in Gallery 302 in Bridgton and is regularly hung in Western Maine Art Group shows and in the Matolcsy Art Center in Norway as well as libraries, restaurants and hospitals. In Gallery 302, Nancy won the People's Choice Award in the 2004 Miniature Art Show and the People's Choice Award for the Shorey Park poster contest in 2005. She won the First Place Award for her miniature "First Snow" in the 2005 Miniature Art Show. The Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce chose her watercolor, "Field of Lupines", for its 2005 fund-raiser calendar. In the summer of 2005, she won one of the three purchase prize awards at Art- in-the Park in Bridgton. She won one of seven purchase prize awards also at the Norway Sidewalk Art Show. In South Portland's Art-in-the-Park, Nancy won two of twelve Sponsor's Choice awards. She was in competition with 185 artists.

Nancy sells fine art giclée reproductions of some of her work. These high quality giclée prints are reproduced on the highest quality archival art paper. The print is indistinguishable from the original and will never fade. All limited prints are signed and numbered under the matting which is a nicer presentation than leaving a border. Prints may be ordered in any size
