The Photography of Robin Priest to be featured on Main Street Norway in August
NORWAY - The photography of Western Maine Art Group member Robin Priest will be featured in the windows of the Norway Savings Bank Operations Center at 356 Main Street for the month of August.
The arts have always been an intrinsic part of Robin Priest's life from an early age, whether it is singing, dancing, drawing, painting, acting or photography. She has always had the need for creative outlets in her life "to fulfill my spirit and keep me grounded and content. I believe my true passion for photography started with the need and desire to capture every moment of my children's lives, if only for a moment in time, as they change and grow so quickly!"
From there grew the desire to capture and save the beauty of nature and the natural world at large, that this Western Maine Art Group member has always enjoyed watching and being a part. Priest says she tries to capture the beauty, the texture, and hopefully convey the solicitude she feels from being a part of this planet we call earth.
"I have always enjoyed learning about our planet and all the wondrous creatures and fauna that live on it! Photography gives me the chance to capture a piece of time to share the parts, colors, and textures, that I find so alluring. My camera is very much an extension of my core and I see pictures that I need to capture literally everywhere I go," she said.
Priest exhibits her work in two galleries in Maine: Gallery 302 in Bridgton, Maine and the Lajos Matolcsy Arts Center in Norway. She also is a freelance photographer for the Advertiser Democrat. Priest also I participates in many juried art shows and sales throughout the state of Maine. Also part of her photographic repertoire are: senior pictures, family, pet and event photography, calenders, photo greeting cards and much more. She is also a member of the "Oxford Hills Camera Club" which is an educational, as well as, socially-based association.
The Western Maine Art Group recently received an award for the Best Window Display on a Main Street from the Maine Downtown Center for these exhibits. The Norway Savings Bank and Western Maine Art Group partnered to provide these public art exhibits in 2008.
