New Watercolor Teacher Joins Western Maine Art Group Team
NORWAY –
A new watercolor teacher has joined the teaching team of the Western
Maine Art Group. Diana Hertz will begin teaching classes for beginning to
intermediate watercolor students in late spring. Registration is currently open
for the 6 week set of classes and sessions will start at Lajos Matolcsy Arts
Center at 480 Main Street in Norway when registration is full.
While a resident of Maine for many years, Hertz
began oil painting in Chicago at age eight, and has been actively painting ever
since. Her formal training began at the age of 13 when she was awarded a full-tuition
scholarship at the Chicago Art Institute. Over the years Hertz also
studied at The Art Students League in New York and with private teachers.
Currently, she paints and teach watercolor painting both privately and through
extension services. Hertz’s work has been displayed and sold in Washington,
D.C., New York and Maine.
Some years ago, this artist discovered the
joys and freedom of watercolors, feeling that it best expressed the intimacy,
immediacy and excitement of life as she understood it. Watercolor allows
Hertz to swiftly capture the beauty and essence of her subject to dramatize its
central power. It is Hertz’s purpose to represent her personal world-view with
originality, insight and a direct line to artistic vision.
“If those viewing my work discover the joys of
important realities that they are often too busy to observe in the welter of
everyday existence, it would make me very happy”, said Hertz.
Classes will be held on Mondays
from 1 to 3 p.m. The six week set of
classes costs $90. FMI or to register, contact WMAG President Irina Kahn: 743-7813
